You’ve Chosen Your Estate Agent. Now Choose the Right Solicitor.

You’ve trusted Keystone to sell your home. Our job now is to help get you all the way from instructed to completed, with as little stress and unnecessary delay as possible. One of the most important decisions you’ll make during that journey is choosing your solicitor. And, from our experience, choosing on price alone can be a costly mistake.

Your solicitor can make or break your move

Once a sale is agreed, your estate agent and solicitor need to work closely together to keep everything moving.
Questions need answering quickly, enquiries need dealing with promptly and, when complications arise, everyone involved needs to communicate and work together to find a solution.

A good solicitor can keep a transaction moving and solve problems before they become deal-breakers.
Unfortunately, we’ve also seen the opposite: weeks of delays, poor communication, unanswered emails and frustrated buyers and sellers. In the worst cases, these delays can contribute to a sale falling through.
Saving a few hundred pounds on the cheapest legal quote can seem attractive at the start. It feels rather different if your move is delayed or your buyer begins to lose confidence.

Why we recommend our solicitor panel

Our recommended panel has been built through experience of real property transactions.
We know how these firms communicate, how they deal with problems and, importantly, how they work with our team to keep your sale progressing.

We also believe local knowledge matters. Property transactions can involve searches, restrictions, covenants, planning matters and other location-specific issues. Having an experienced solicitor who understands the local area can help matters be dealt with efficiently and proportionately.

We should also be transparent: Keystone receives a referral fee from some of the firms we work with, but not all of them.
That is not why we recommend them.

We recommend these firms because our priority is getting our clients moved. A smoother transaction means less stress for you, fewer delays and a greater chance of reaching a successful completion.

Don’t choose on price alone

We understand that moving home is expensive and every cost matters. But conveyancing is one area where the cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

Before choosing a solicitor, consider:
  • Who will actually be dealing with my sale?
  • Can I speak to them directly?
  • How quickly will they respond?
  • What happens if my transaction becomes complicated?
  • Will they work proactively with my estate agent to keep the chain moving?

The difference between a smooth move and a stressful one is rarely the small amount saved on the original quote.

It’s what happens when something goes wrong.

Compare our recommended solicitors

To make choosing a solicitor easier, we’ve created the Keystone Solicitor Comparison Portal.
You can compare indicative quotes from our four recommended firms, see a clear breakdown of the costs and learn more about each firm before making your decision.

There is no obligation to choose any of them. But having helped thousands of people through property transactions, our advice is simple: Choose a solicitor with a proven track record, strong communication and a team that will work with us to get you moved.

You’ve trusted Keystone with the sale of your home. Make sure the legal side of your move is in safe hands too.
